How many scholarships are offered?
Scholarships are scheduled every three months and on occasion are granted every month. Winners are posted on the website.
Who can apply? (Just because you apply for a question does not guarantee a scholarship will be given for that certain question.)
Anyone can apply. Those who are studying in higher education, which include: high school juniors/seniors, technical degree
students, community college students, university students, graduate students, study abroad students, etc. There will always be an essay which will
accommodate your area of interest.
How will I know if I am awarded a scholarship?
Our selection committee will contact you via phone and e-mail.
Where does OneDollarScholar.com receive its funding?
OneDollarScholar.com is s non-profit organization. All of its funds are generated through
contributions
either
by students or for students. OneDollarScholar.com solicits contributions from individuals of various
communities, corporations, small businesses and private donors.
What is Paypal and is it secure?
Using state-of-the-art encryption, Paypal does not allow your information to be seen by anyone. Paypal offers 100%
protection when submitting your contribution online. PayPal is accepted worldwide and leads the industry in fraud prevention. You are able to
choose to contribute by using your credit card, debit card, or bank account. PayPal sends an email confirmation of every account transaction.
What are my chances of winning a scholarship?
Every person that applies has a chance to win. The manner in which the essay questions are written helps identify the most
likely candidates. Don’t be discouraged if English isn’t your major and you’re not the best essay writer. The essays are typically 500-1000 words.
Focus on the topic, use proper grammar, and apply every chance you can. OneDollarScholar.com encourages you to
contribute
$1 when you apply. Contributing provides funds for the scholarships.
Do I have to contribute $1?
Contributing $1 to the scholarship fund is highly encouraged. This allows for continued efforts in promoting scholarships to more people.
How much are the scholarships worth?
Based on the temperament of the business, the scholarships will vary in amount; however, each scholarship could range from $100-$800.
Multiple scholarships can be awarded.
Who evaluates my essay?
The essays are evaluated by a volunteer team of professionals. We take the impersonal procedure
in giving scholarships. The volunteers have been invited to sit on the scholarship board and act as counselors in choosing qualified students. The board
consists of undergraduate students from a variety of majors, law seeking students, professionals, business people, teachers, and educational administrators.
Each individual has a wide range of talents that promotes a more diverse selections committee.
Who came up with the idea for OneDollarScholar.com?
Dan is a university student seeking a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Spanish. He founded and funded the business primarily himself.
It is operated through mutual leadership with a personal colleague. James Latham is the Technical Officer and is finishing his degree in B.S. in Computer Science.
Is Onedollarscholar.com a B.B.B. (Better Business Bureau) member?
You must be in business for one year before B.B.B. accepts a business application.
How does OneDollarScholar.com promote scholarship equality?
The manner in which the essay questions are written helps identify the most likely candidates. We want anyone who has felt discrimination
and feels they are a candidate for an unbiased scholarship process to apply. We want everyone to
contribute so more people have
the opportunity to be awarded. $1 can go a long way for many students.
How will I receive the Scholarship?
Typically funds are dispersed in two ways. As a non-profit organization we are required by law to provide proof that the funds were
given to you. Typically this can be done through the registrar at your community college, technical school, trade school, or university.

- Applicants ought to submit their essay before 11:59 P.M. (Pacific Time) on the date of the deadline.
- Applicants should write about the essay topic, focus on the question(s) asked and respond as specifically as you can.
- The written essay applications must be submitted via e-mail to: scholarships@onedollarscholar.com and Artwork, Photography Music or Film must be sent via postal mail to:

- The subject of the email must include your name and essay topic. In the body of your email it must include:
- First and Last Name
- School Attending (this is not used as a deciding factor)
- Personal Phone number(s)
- E-mail
- When you are chosen for the scholarship you must provide evidence of enrollment of at least part-time status. Part-time is considered
3 credit hours if you're on Semester and 5 credit hours if you’re on Quarter. We typically can verify this information without you sending any
additional items, but in some cases transcripts may be required.
- If you do contribute please indicate why you contributed to the $1 fund. Provide the reference number of your contribution, if you
contribute. (This is not a deciding factor; it is used for statistical elucidation). The selections committee
never sees this information.
- When chosen as a candidate by the selections committee you will receive a five-ten minute phone call from Dan to discuss your
opportunity for the scholarship. This is taking the impersonal procedure out of scholarship applications. You will be notified within two weeks of
the phone call.
- If you are awarded a scholarship, you may continue to apply again to others.
- OneDollarScholar.com reserves the right to keep, store or use any submission for future business purposes.
